Total launches new multipurpose range for Off Road Vehicles

New range is set to help off-road vehicles reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions

TOTAL lubricants has launched a new range of oils, TOTAL Concept TP Star, specifically designed and developed for off road vehicles.

The new range of oils not only offers a one stop solution that provides site transport managers with two oils for all needs, but can also reduce fuel consumption by three per cent and help produce six tonnes1 per machine per year.

less CO2 emissions

TP Star Max FE 10W-30 and TP STAR TRANS 80W-110, within the new Concept TP range, are multi-purpose oils designed to satisfy the most recent demands of manufacturers and interna- tional standards. Not only do these new lubricants meet the industry standards but the range is a further addition to Total’s fuel economy lubricants portfolio – not only contributing to savings in fuel economy but also carbon emissions. For instance, a representative park of five machines (one excavator, two dumpers and two loaders) a saving could be made of 9,300 litres which equates to 25 tonnes less CO2

emissions.

Phil Hindley, Manager Industrial Lubricants, Total explained: “Total is continually investing in the development of innovative lubricants to meet the evolving requirements of our customers. After years of research and development we are particularly proud to introduce the TOTAL Concept TP Star range of oils to our portfolio.”

Hindley continued: “By utilising this new multipurpose lubricant as opposed to a combination of different lubricants, site transport managers will not only reduce their overall lubricant spend but also drive down their running costs. The Total Concept TP range of oils reduces fuel consumption by three percent and as a result enables businesses to reduce their carbon emissions at the same time.”

TP STAR FE 10W-30 SPECIFICATION • Self adaptive formula: the viscosity adapts to the component lubricated

• Fuel economy formula: reduces CO2 emissions

• Compatible with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF)

• Optimised drain intervals

• Gets the equipment operational fast: easier winter starting

TP STAR TRANS 80W-110 SPECIFICATION • Meets the technical requirements of most equipment manufacturers and the international standards

• New viscosity grade covers all types of applications

• High technology chemical composition giving a wide operating range

• Exceptional resistance to loaded gear pressures and impacts

• Friction performance adapted to ‘immersed brakes’

• Specific ‘limited slip’ additives for limited slip differentials

Base: 3% saving/2.7kg of CO2 per litre of diesel fuel (EPA)/2,000 operating hours/average consumtion:371/h

Quaker buys Stuart’s aluminium hot rolling oils business Quaker Chemical Acquires D. A. Stuart's U.S. Aluminium Hot Rolling Oil Business

Quaker Chemical Corporation announced it has acquired D.A. Stuart's U.S. aluminium hot rolling oil business from Houghton International, including the rights to sell the product portfolio internationally. With this acquisition, Quaker becomes a leading player in the US aluminium hot rolling market, serving some of the largest reversing mills, single and multi-stand tandem finishing mills, and combination mill systems in the country. The acquired business had net sales in 2009 of approximately $7 million.

Michael F. Barry, Quaker’s Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President, commented, “This business is a strategic fit for Quaker because it is complementary to our existing business, is aligned with our core competencies of lubrication and surface treatment, and will facilitate growth in our primary metals business both within and outside of North America. The aluminium hot rolling market has strong long-term growth prospects, especially in emerging economies such as Russia, South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Quaker currently has a presence in those countries and is well positioned for growth.”

Quaker will expand its current product portfolio by adding the B-SERIES®

, ALUSHIELD®

The addition of these products, combined with the existing QUAKEROL®

lubricants, will enable Quaker to offer a more

comprehensive package to customers worldwide. Quaker will be able to tailor a rolling product to meet the unique needs of a mill for the entire sheet producing process – from casting to finishing. Aluminium producers looking to source their varied lubricant needs from a single supplier can now turn to Quaker.

Mr. Mark Bohr, formerly General Manager of Aluminium Rolling-USA at D.A. Stuart, will lead the business for Quaker.
