BE CLEVER WITH SPACE 6 For a statement look, use your bed to showcase tall ceilings. “It is always worth considering
whether you can increase the height of your bedroom by exposing space underneath the roof,” says interior designer Sean Cochrane at Cochrane Design. “This can significantly improve
its roomy feel whilst adding a great sense of drama.” It also means you can choose a statement bed without risking the room feeling too full. Opening up into the roof isn't possible? Consider whether you can move internal walls to steal some floor area from adjoining rooms or landings to create a separate space that's linked to your bedroom. If a bulky wardrobe is taking up too much space in your bedroom, can you create a dressing area in an adjacent room instead and relocate the cupboards there? Sometimes, moving an internal doorway can free up wall areas to allow for a larger bed, while a pocket door that slides into a wall cavity is less intrusive than a standard inward-opening hinged door.
