FLEXIBLE CHOICES Designed in Britain, Qettle’s tap dispenses 100°C-hot boiling water, as well as colder fi ltered drinking water and normal hot and cold. It features a two-stage safety clip and a handle lock with the option to add a chiller unit. 4-in-1 in stainless steel, £498, Qettle.

PLANNING

Check the water pressure in your kitchen before you buy, as most boiling-water taps will need a high-pressure fl ow to work effi ciently. However, if the pressure is low, some of the more compact models do use non-pressurised tanks and can still dispense water at high temperatures.

The latest tanks have been designed to fi t easily under all sinks and come with the necessary components, plus an installation guide and specifi cation sheet – but it’s always best to ask a plumber to fi t a boiling-water tap, to ensure the system works correctly.

 DESIGNER MODEL

Fohën’s system includes the tap, as well as a boiler and carbon purity fi lter and

comes in fi ve designs and nine colour fi nishes. An integrated touch screen lets you adjust the hot water’s temperature from 75-98°C. Tri-fl ow instant boiling-water tap in brushed copper, £799, Fohën.

When planning your cabinetry and storage, make sure you allow for enough space under the sink to mount the tank. The height of a heated tank can vary from 21cm for a more compact model to around 55cm with a capacity to cater for a larger households. There will need to be space for a fi ltration unit and an electrical socket too.
