“ We have full confidence in the product”

Despite multiple lockdowns, co-owners Lily Harrison and Charlotte Scofield managed to relocate their Orpington Kütchenhaus store and maintain strong sales

ily Harrison and Charlotte Scofi eld had both been successful designers individually before they became Kütchenhaus franchisees a few years ago. At the end of 2020, they relocated their showroom to new premises in Orpington. The new showroom offers 2,100 sq ft of retail space and employs several members of staff. Having carefully negotiated the pandemic, the franchisees are now in an excellent position as we emerge out of lockdown.

Q: Tell us about your experience in KBB retail. A: We have both been award-winning design consultants for our previous employer and have 20 years combined design experience. After outperforming several hundred other designers across the country, we decided to join forces and open our own franchise business. When the opportunity arose for us to move to a location with higher footfall and better accessibility nearby to our previous store, we felt we just couldn’t turn it down.

Q: Why did you decide to become a Kütchenhaus franchisee? A: In our opinion, Kütchenhaus has the best product offering, at the best value for money. We were attracted by the infrastructure and support model within the Kütchenhaus set up, including an in-house technical team with regional support and guidance.

Q: Why specifi cally Kütchenhaus and not any other franchise model? A: Having sold the product for another retailer previously, we both understood how well it sells in the UK market. Kütchenhaus is owned and backed by Nobilia, the largest German kitchen supplier in Europe. So, we’re confi dent that we’re always on top of current trends and can stay ahead of the curve. As the shopfront for the Nobilia factory, Kütchenhaus can offer premium quality German

engineering and the latest in innovative design at direct-from-factory prices, giving us the confi dence in the product we sell.

Being part of Kütchenhaus, we’re confi dent that we’re always on top of current trends and can stay ahead of the curve.

Q: What support is available to franchisees from Kütchenhaus? A: We receive great support from our sales manager and the team at head offi ce are always on hand to help with any queries. We were made to feel really welcome. The technical team in Manchester check the orders and pick out errors that we might have missed. All the appliances are then collated, and delivery is arranged with the customer. Kütchenhaus also has a wide range of affi liate suppliers that are there to support the franchise network, from a marketing agency, to SEO experts, to CRM providers. Everything you need to run a successful franchise is either in-house or provided by an affi liate supplier.

Q: What advice would you give

an independent retailer considering becoming a Kütchenhaus franchisee? A: We think you should look at a few showrooms and speak to the owners. That way, you’ll get a real idea of how it all works. The strength of selling Nobilia and German-made kitchens shouldn’t be discounted. And we would urge retailers to really think about what Kütchenhaus has to offer. The company has big plans for the future, and we want to be part of that success.
