Vitra opens UK flagship showroom in Clerkenwell

BATHROOM BRAND Vitra has opened a new flagship showroom for retailers, architects and designers in the heart of London’s design hub in Clerkenwell. The 5,600sq ft showroom is designed to showcase all of Vitra’s product portfolio as well as serving as a space for events and workshops. The London venue is the company’s sixth flagship showroom, joining those in Istanbul, Cologne, Dubai, Mumbai and Moscow.

It was due to open fully on April 12 by appointment only and the virtual opening event took place on April 1. Currently workshops and talks will be hosted from the space, but broadcast digitally while social distancing restrictions are still in place. Levent Giray, managing director of Vitra UK, said: “The launch of our flagship Vitra London showroom marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our business, enabling us

to engage more effectively with our national and international client base. “Despite the unprecedented chal-

len ges related to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted to launch our flagship showroom in order to offer our partners and clients a fully integrated service for their bathroom projects, including design consultations and specification support.”

The showroom features a variety of room-set displays and also gives customers the opportunity to view its full range of sanitaryware and brass- ware in one place.

Customers will be able to interact with products thanks to fully working displays and enjoy an immersive experience in the 4D theatre. The new showroom also features Vitra products made in collaboration with world-renowned designers, such as Ross Lovegrove, Terri Pecora, and most recently, Claudio Bellini and Arik Levy.

Furniture makers charity to boost support for those hit by pandemic

THE FURNITURE Makers’ Company (FMC) has launched its Step 2 It campaign to help boost its financial support for those in the furniture industry hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

The new campaign will run from now until April 2022 and aims to raise £250,000 for those in need, after a year in which the charity awarded record numbers of financial grants to people from the trade whose lives and livelihoods were impacted by the pandemic.

The Step 2 It campaign will encourage individuals and companies to stage sporting activities, and any monies raised by them through sponsorship will be match-funded by an unnamed benefactor.

Anyone interested in taking part can go to the FMC website and fill in a pledge form. They will then be sent a toolkit pack that will include ideas for the kind of events they could run, and also posters that can be displayed in the workplace, as well as various digital marketing materials. The FMC will then help to promote these events on its own website and social media.
