HOT AND COLD WATER DRINKING SYSTEMS
the Water Fittings Regulations test. Qura is now increasingly the standard
choice for Estates and Facilities managers in mental healthcare. For example, it is the default choice at many Cygnet Health Care sites. Wayne Lee, Regional Facility manager at Cygnet Health Care, said: “Qura has changed the game at all the sites I am responsible for, because it is a reliable product suitable for the most secure and challenging locations.”
2023 developments As we know, technology moves fast, and this is no different with Qura. It was feedback from the industry that saw us design both the new tap alarm, and the new integrated bowl system that we will unveil in Coventry – where the tap is fixed to a specially designed and secure drinking sink, making vandalism to both sink and taps a thing of the past. Qura will also be launched as an all-in-one IPS version, meaning the system is self-contained, and can be placed anywhere, with even greater safety characteristics. Potential users will be able to see all these new innovations, plus a special single-box system designed for sale via distributors, at the Design in Mental Health show on 7 and 8 June at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Maintenance-wise, we recommend
sanitisation of the cold water every six months, which is a procedure our engineers can undertake, or, say, a Trust’s
Nathan Murphy
Nathan Murphy, National Project manager at Hotspot Titanium, is responsible for the Qura Hot and Cold drinking tap product range. He has worked in the hydration market for a decade, providing solutions to offices, healthcare facilities, and educational settings. He says: “My introduction to the mental health market was a real eye-opener, as there were many more factors to consider than just a good-looking tap. I rapidly realised the importance of listening carefully to customer requirements and industry leaders to come up with a product that was a genuinely good fit.
“I have always had a keen interest in design, so my industry knowledge, coupled with my drive to offer great products and services, led to me creating the first product of its kind specifically for the mental health market. One of the key goals is to help all the users of our system stay hydrated through good quality filtered drinking water. I have had my own struggles with mental health, but have had excellent support from family and friends, and strive for a healthy lifestyle. Working alongside the NHS and private mental healthcare providers is a privilege for me, as I know I am providing a product that encourages good health and independence.”
Estates or Maintenance personnel can do, coupled with a simultaneous change of the carbon filter. With the hot water stored in the system kept at around 100 °C, there is no risk of Legionella, but regular sanitisation is important to minimise the risk of build-up of other waterborne pathogens, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. We can offer a service and maintenance package to those customers who require it – one of the features of which is a rapid call-out. We now not only have Qura taps
installed at quite a number of mental healthcare facilities UK-wide, including units operated by Cygnet Health, The Priory, and the NHS, but also in some acute hospitals. Our committed drive to sell more Qura systems into the mental healthcare sector, however, is underlined by our recent recruitment of two Project Development managers, Jamie Ward and Dean Anderson, and we are very much looking forward to showcasing the system, and explaining its major selling points, on our stand in Coventry next month.” n
Water Safety Services
DRLC is committed to helping our clients provide facilities and an environment that ensures that healthcare services are delivered in the safest way possible.
We can supply Authorising Engineers – Water Safety to assess that the provision of water across the estate is safe, minimising the risks of exposure to opportunistic waterborne pathogens and controlling risks from scalding.
Fire Safety Services
DRLC has found that Healthcare providers are very motivated to ensure that they mitigate risk and ensure compliance when it comes to Fire Safety standards.
Our Authorising Engineers will do a full audit of your Fire Safety management systems and following their Audit will provide you with a report which includes recommendations for improvements where applicable and support you as you implement any required changes.
Energy Saving Services
With the increase in the price of fuel and the emphasis on carbon reduction our Building Services engineers can advise on a number of low carbon energy solutions.
