immunochemistry and has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in the discipline.
Cytopathology UK NEQAS for Reproductive Science is operated by the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, from the Trust’s reproductive science department, illustrating again how UK NEQAS participants benefit from EQA directed by experts in their fields. Tamanda Timvere Hartley will highlight emerging research and potential strategies for improving male reproductive health as part of the Cytopathology programme at Congress. Tamanda will give an overview of male fertility, including current sperm assessment techniques.
As well as its involvement in the scientific programme, UK NEQAS will be exhibiting throughout the event at stand R15 in the registration area.

Immunology
Looking at the Immunology sessions, we see that Deborah Pritchard, Head of Transplantation Service at the Welsh Blood Service, is talking both on the introduction of cff DNA testing and regulatory lymphocytes in transplantation. Deborah’s portfolio includes the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry, which recruits volunteer donors and collects stem cells from matched donors for patients in need of a stem cell transplant. Although these talks are not on EQA, Deb is the Director of the worldwide UK NEQAS for Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (H&I), illustrating how UK NEQAS benefits from the direction of recognised scientists in their fields who operate UK NEQAS Schemes alongside their substantive roles. Staying with Immunology, Amy De’Ath, who is a senior member of staff in Transplantation Services at the Welsh Blood Service and another member of the UK NEQAS H&I centre, will present a joint UK NEQAS and British Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (BSHI) guideline on the laboratory testing and clinical interpretation of HLA genotyping results supporting the diagnosis of coeliac disease. Amy will explain why UK NEQAS for H&I created a test of guidelines to inform the genetic testing for this disease, supported by the collaboration in EQA services. Amy

plays an active role in training and development within the transplantation community, serving on both the BSHI Research Executive and Education Board. Dina Patel and Carol Stanley from UK NEQAS Immunology, Immunochemistry and Allergy (IIA) will share fresh perspectives on how EQA data informs practice in the monitoring of anti– tumour necrosis factor (TNF) drugs and antibodies. Dina Patel returns to the Immunology programme on Thursday 25th, turning her focus to anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) testing, examining current laboratory practice and the growing impact of the International Consensus on Antinuclear Antibody Patterns (ICAP) nomenclature. Drawing on EQA findings, she will highlight the variation in ANA testing observed across laboratories and discuss how ICAP has helped to drive harmonisation within the field. By identifying variation in methods and results, EQA schemes provide a platform for education, dialogue with manufacturers, and collaboration with professional bodies – all of which contribute to raising standards and improving outcomes for patients. As Scientific Director, Dina Patel spearheads UK NEQAS IIA’s efforts in global EQA leadership. Her responsibilities range from delivering interpretative advice and troubleshooting assay performance to representing the organisation in national and international advisory and educational forums. Alongside these duties, she leads scientific and technical research in immunology and
Exhibition and posters Throughout Congress, UK NEQAS will be based at Stand R15, where representatives from across all disciplines will be available to meet delegates. Whether you have a specific query about our services or simply want to connect with the team, our staff will be on hand to help – or to arrange a time for you to speak with the right specialist. The majority of IBMS delegates will be very familiar with UK NEQAS services but the Congress gives us the opportunity to strengthen connections with our valued participants. In addition, we will be inviting feedback through a ‘praise and grumble’ box, offering delegates the chance to share their thoughts – anonymously if preferred – on our services. Proud of our position as world leader in External Quality Assessment services, UK NEQAS continues to deliver a unique blend of expertise, independence, and international benchmarking. Working with us, you benefit from our unique approach and expertise, knowing that you are being compared to the best by the best, throughout the world. Finally, apologies to any of our colleagues we have missed and, of course, don’t forget there will be UK NEQAS posters too!
