Highly ‘energy-efficient’ Head Office officially opened
IHEEM was delighted to host Council members, training providers, exhibition partners, and development contractors in Portsmouth recently to celebrate the completion of the Head Office refurbishment.
Guests enjoyed refreshments and a tour of the new facility, which incorporates energy efficiency solutions such as an air source heat pump, and workspace improvements including a state-of- the art, flexible meeting and training space.
IHEEM CEO, Pete
Sellars, said: “It is a privilege to welcome members of the IHEEM family to our new home. A great deal of consideration has been given to ensuring that the Institute headquarters reflect not just the current,
Hong Kong Branch Chair’s high praise in print
Congratulations to Dr P L Yuen, IHEEM Hong Kong Branch Chair, who was recently recognised in articles from both CIBSE and the South China Morning Post for his work on the Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) isolation ward (pictured), designed and implemented in rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Giving an overview of the project, he said: “Inspired by the country’s ‘Huoshenshan’ project, we began exploring how to construct high-standard isolation wards within limited spaces. By integrating MiC and MiMEP methods, we created a compact, self-sufficient design that was a world first at the time.” You can read the full CIBSE article here:

Wales rugby legend to speak at Regional Conference
IHEEM is proud to be hosting one of the country’s most famous former rugby union players, Sir Gareth Edwards CBE, as the after-dinner speaker for the Wales Regional Conference, with the dinner being held at the prestigious Celtic Manor Hotel on the evening of Wednesday 7 May. Gaining his first international cap in 1967, and shortly thereafter becoming Wales’ youngest ever captain, Edwards is hailed as ‘arguably the greatest rugby union player ever to don a Welsh jersey’. It is a privilege to have Sir Gareth addressing the Institute at this popular event, and we look forward to learning more about his inspiration, and universally applicable lessons learned from his time on the pitch.
