Purposefully broad selection criteria The competition selection criteria, as detailed by the Programme Group, have been kept purposefully broad, highlighting themes within the healthcare experience to include accessibility and inclusivity, medication, humanities, the environment and sustainability, food and nutrition, and mental health and wellbeing. Entries will be assessed based on a range of factors – including innovation, collaboration, build and marketing, sustainability, and impact. The Institute is calling on its wider membership to support this initiative through the sharing and promotion of the

Big Bang Competition to wider networks, and expressions of interest from those looking to support the delivery of IHEEM’s presence at the Big Bang Fair. Affiliate members are also invited to support the programme through the provision of interactive activities or technologies to engage and inspire young attendees with an interest in healthcare engineering as part of the IHEEM Big Bang Fair exhibition space. New for 2025, the IHEEM Innovation in Wellbeing and Healthcare Engineering Award encourages young people to submit any proposal they believe aids the betterment of the healthcare landscape. Entrants are encouraged to think widely about the full scope of healthcare environments and stakeholders
