Bacteria eliminated via ‘pioneering’ door handle
A Glasgow company is producing a ‘pioneering’ hygienic door handle which it says ‘eliminates bugs within seconds, reducing the cross-transmission of infectious bacteria and viruses’. Glana’s Axiene VH01 Clean Touch
system is designed to kill ‘over 99.999%’ of bacteria, with the disinfectant fluid used said also to be effective against viruses. Glana’s founder and MD, Chartered Engineer, Ian Graham, said: “Independent laboratory analysis verifies that Axiene provides broad spectrum protection against harmful germs and viruses like
E.coli, ENT, and MRSA, and other pathogens such as coronavirus. Laboratory results show the Axiene touch surface continually achieves a surface cleanliness which hugely exceeds the requirements quoted in international standards for the healthcare and food sectors.” Axiene VH01 is based on a

Rada appoints new UK Specification Sales manager
Washroom controls specialist, Rada, has appointed Natasha Nugent as its new UK Specification Sales manager. She joins

Innovation with silver ions continues
Since Challis (MS) first brought its antimicrobial showerheads to market in 2008, the showerhead, shower system, and water control specialist says it has provided ‘an affordable and effective way of reducing bacterial contamination in healthcare environments’. It said: “The use of silver ion
technology added to the ABS plastic during the manufacturing process offers numerous benefits, among the most notable being the fact that the antibacterial effectiveness is not compromised even if the showerhead is scratched or scuffed. It is also non- leaching, which means that the active silver ions remain inert until they come into contact with the bacteria, and only then release just enough silver to inhibit the bacterium’s ability to reproduce.”
