POST-INDUSTRIAL RECYCLING | INNOVATION
post-industrial polyester textiles – such as offcuts from hospital linens, workwear, and promotional banners – into high-quality recycled rPET pellets. These pellets can be spun into yarn for new textiles and other industrial applications. The project was recognised with the “Recycler of the Year” award at the Plastics Industry Awards in London in 2024. On receiving the award,
Manfred Dobersberger, MD of Pure Loop (which is part of Erema Group), said: “We are incredibly proud of this recognition, which once again proves that going the extra mile truly pays off. The Pure Loop team believed in taking new paths, and now we are being rewarded with this award. It’s a well-de- served acknowledgment of the hard work and determi- nation our team has shown. Project Re:Claim is a true example of how successful collaboration between companies can drive forward textile recycling. I’m eager to see where this journey will take us.” Another machinery company promoting PIR is MAS, which supplied a recycling line for film production waste to the South Vietnamese company Thành Phú Plastic Packaging. MAS said: “The objective was clear: plastic waste that had previously been disposed of was to be recycled and fed back into the processing cycle – as gently as possible and with no loss of material, while retaining the high-quality material properties. A specially developed line, tailored to the customer’s

requirements and consisting of several MAS systems arranged in series, now processes around 500 kg or 130 m³ of film per hour. This complete system shreds film scraps, melts the material, increases the material quality by adding additives, and filters out both pollutants and unwanted odours. The result: high purity that meets even the strictest standards and regulations.”
