The latest Annual Report from polyolefin group Borealis shows circular production capacity rising by 18% compared to 2023, reaching 227,900 tonnes, while the volume of circular feedstock processed nearly doubled to 221,200 tonnes. Alongside these capacity
increases, Borealis said it has strengthened its circular product portfolio, support- ing customers across a wider range of sectors as they reduced their environ- mental impact. New introductions included ten grades based on renewable feedstock, seven grades based on chemical recy- cling, and four grades based on mechanical recycling, as well as materi- als specifically designed for reuse and recycling. Aliplast acquires PET recycler in Italy
Aliplast, controlled by Herambiente, part of the Hera Group, has acquired the Gurit Italia business unit dedicated to PET recycling, operating in the Carmignano di Brenta plant in Padua, Italy.

Project STOP has estab- lished an extensive circular waste management system in Indonesia’s Banyuwangi Regency, with the ground- breaking of second material recovery facility (MRF) planned for the second half of 2025. New halogen-free flame retardant project
Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF is looking for partners in Germany for the hffr-Up2Cycle project which aims to upgrade PCR materials with halogen- free flame retardants and test them in simulation of closed-loop processes. By studying and optimising recycled

and processed PCR materials, the project hopes to find ways to improve their flame retardancy and enhance their long-term mechanical and thermal properties, as well as simulate their stability in closed loop applications. Among its goals, the project intends to: map and characterise PCR

materials available on the market; identify strategies to increase sustain- ability through the use of PCR; explore the development of flame-retarded formulations based on selected PCRs; analyse interactions between flame retardants and other additives. �
