Conductive Plastics 2017 | event preview

Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Germany will explain how multi-layer films comprising electically con- ductive plastics are being developed for electronic circuit board manufacturing using ultrasonic techniques. A novel project to develop plastics with integrated

electrical heating capabilities for the new generation of electric vehicles will be presented by Luis Roca, Head of Compounding at Spain’s AIMPLAS technical institute. And the session will be brought to a close with a joint presentation looking at the production of large area bipolar plates for vanadium-redox-flow batteries by extrusion. This will be given by Thorsten Derieth, Head of Pre-Development at Germany-based Centroplast Engineering Plastics, and Mario Gillmann, Research Associate at the Zentrum für Brennstoffzellen (ZBT) fuel cell research institute, also in Germany. The final formal session of the conference explores

two applications for thermally conductive compounds. Sebastian Ossadnik, R&D Engineer at Technoform Kunststoffprofile in Germany, will detail the potential application of thermally conductive plastic profiles in heat exchangers. Then Hans-Otto Schlothauer, Senior Business Manager Market Growth at SABIC in Germany, will review some thermally conductive plastic solutions for LED luminare heatsinks. Modification of the thermal and electrical properties

of plastics calls heavily on high performance carbon and mineral fillers. For the final session of the conference delegates will be taken from Cologne to the nearby Frechen production facility of HPF The Mineral Engi- neers (which is a division of Quarzwerke). There they will be introduced to the production process and will be able to visit the company’s technical and quality laboratories.

About Conductive Plastics 2017

The third Conductive Plastics conference takes place on 27-28 June 2017 at the Maritim Hotel in Cologne, Germany and follows previous successful events in the US in 2016 and Germany in 2015. The 2017 edition is organised by Applied Market Information (the publisher of Compounding World and Injection World digital magazines) and sponsored by Premix and HPF The Mineral Engineers (headline sponsors), Imerys Graphite & Carbon, Nanocyl, Cabot, Unipetrol, and Total.

SPECIAL OFFER: Save €200 if you register before 31st March 2017

Conductive Plastics 2017 will explore the latest and emerging additive

technologies for tailoring thermal and electrical properties of plastics. Expert speakers will cover the formulation and compounding processes, as well as providing insight into the development and production of thermally conductive and/or electrically conductive plastic components. Presentations will also address the critical influence of processing parameters on the performance of finished parts. The 2017 event includes a mini-exhibition (only open to conference
