AMI grows magazines team; expands activities in China


Injection World publisher Applied Market Information (AMI) has announced a number of new appointments, expand- ing its digital magazines, conferences and exhibitions team and establishing its first sales presence in China. David Eldridge joined the AMI Magazines team last month and will take on the role of Editor of its established Injection World magazine and the company’s new Plastics Recycling World magazine, which launches in June. Based in the UK, he reports to AMI Magazines’ Editor-in-Chief Chris Smith.


Eldridge has more than 25


years’ experience in B2B publishing. He joins AMI from Crain Communications, where he was Editor of Plastics News Europe (formerly European Plastics News) and before that Plastics & Rubber Weekly. He has also previously held senior editorial positions at Metal Bulletin and Petroleum Economist. Aside from his editorial skills, Eldridge brings consid- erable experience in confer- ences and exhibitions, having

played key roles in the launch of Crain’s Product Design + Innovation and Plastics Recycling Show Europe events. Last month also saw the appointment of AMI’s first sales specialist in China. Based in Shanghai, Jenny Zhou takes on the role of Sales Manager (China) and will initially focus on selling exhibition space at AMI’s Compounding World Expo, which takes place in Germany in June 2018, and advertising space in the company’s fast growing digital magazines. Zhou joins AMI from


e-commerce business platform China Plastics Media.

Her previous roles include Business Development/ Marketing Manager at Shanghai Suresee Photonics and Assistant Project Engineer at global contract manufac- turer Jabil.


Zhou will be working out of


the offices of JiaRui Interna- tional. Founded and managed by international plastics industry veteran Gary Alecock, who formerly worked for Clariant, JiaRui provides assistance to companies looking to build business contacts in China. The third new addition to


the AMI team is Claudia Whitcombe, who joins as Head


of Marketing based in the UK. Her role is to develop AMI’s branding and web presence, improve its email and market- ing channels, and develop effective promotional cam- paigns for its full line of conference and exhibition activities. Whitcombe has more than


10 years’ experience in B2B marketing in the events, conferences and media sector, most recently with UBM where she managed the marketing campaigns for its Global Fire and Security Events portfolio. She has previously held posts at Springer, BioMed Central and EMAP.


Corvaglia plans US bottle caps plant


Corvaglia, a privately owned Swiss company that makes closures for PET bottles, has announced plans to build a closure manufacturing facility in the US to complement its existing operations in Switzerland and Mexico. The location and size of investment are undisclosed.

Fisher to be president and general manager of the Corvaglia Closures USA operation. Fisher is a veteran of the plastics packaging industry, who has previously held senior roles at Bemis and Amcor Rigid Plastics. He began his


role on 1 June. Fisher said he is committed to
