Netstal is showcasing its new Elios series at NPE, marking the North American debut for these high-speed machines. An Elios 7500-6000, with an 8 + 8 cavity stack mould from StackTeck, will produce 16 oz delicatessen containers in a cycle time of 3.1 s. The heart of the Elios is Netstal’s newly developed hybrid drive concept of the clamping unit with 5-point dual toggle lever. Highlighting its focus on medical cleanroom moulding, Netstal is showing a fully electric Elion 2800-870 machine. This will mould pipettes in a 128-cavity mould in a cycle time of 5.6 s. The shot weight is 33.28 g. Netstal will also be represented in the NPE fair’s

new Bottle Zone in the South Hall. “With the current PET-LINE generation of PET systems and the hybrid ELION series, Netstal offers the complete solution package for cost-effective production of PET preforms and beverage bottle caps,” said Matt Membrino, Sales Manager Netstal USA. In addition to standard preforms for carbonated soft drinks, Netstal’s portfolio includes Prelactia PET packaging with integrated light barrier for filling liquid dairy products.

In response to the need for short cycle times in thin wall moulding, KraussMaffei has added a new speed option to its 2-platen GX series which offers customers an optional choice of different injection speeds of up to 700 mm/s depending on the injection unit. At NPE, the group is showing a GX 900-12000 machine making 20l buckets in a
2-cavity mould with in-mould labelling. The speed design of the machine enables short cycle times of less than 14 s. KraussMaffei is demonstrating its FiberForm
process in combination with swivel plate technol- ogy for multi-component injection moulding on a GXW 450-2000/1400. The centre armrest pro- duced at NPE shows how the combination can be used to create new visual and haptic component features for thermoplastic composites in a single process, said the company. Other demonstrations on the KraussMaffei stand include: a PX 51-55 SilcoSet LSR moulding ma- chine producing special dosing caps (called “duckbills”) for the medical industry; a CX 200-750 machine with a 16-cavity mould showing how inductive heating can help produce 16 different surfaces of a plastic housing for a game console.

Wittmann Group is showing its injection moulding machines, robots and ancillary equipment at NPE under the slogan “Pathway to 4.0,” emphasising its equipment connectivity in the context of Industry 4.0. A Wittmann Battenfeld MacroPower 850/8800 machine will produce a spoiler in mould and hot runner technology supplied by HRS Flow that includes 5 servo-valve gates and several cavity pressure sensors. The company said: “With Wittmann 4.0 integrated with a hot runner, as well as HiQ-Melt, HiQ-Flow, and HiQ-Cushion technolo- gies operating, this cell offers the most complex example of how Wittmann 4.0 can be utilised.” The cell will include a GMax granulator, a Tempro Direct Plus TCU, a Gravimax G34 Blender, a W843 Pro robot, a hot runner controller from Gammaflux, and a Flowcon Plus water flow controller. In a medical application, an EcoPower 110/350
B6P cleanroom machine will mould PP pipettes with an 8-cavity mould from Cavaform. The cell will
