Lubrizol signs new deal in India


Lubrizol has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to purchase a 120-acre plot in Aurangabad, India, where it plans to construct a new manufacturing facility to support the region’s growing transportation and industrial fluid markets. The initial phase of the


project represents an investment of approximately $200m, and when completed the plant will be the company’s largest in India and its second-largest worldwide. In 2023, the company unveiled a $150m investment program that included the construction of the world’s largest CPVC resin plant in Vilayat, Gujarat. “Lubrizol has made


meaningful investments in India for more than five decades,” said Flavio Kliger, President of Lubrizol Additives. The new facility will allow the company to enhance its local capacity for its additives business, he said. �www.lubrizol.com


LyondellBasell to take over German recycler


LyondellBasell has entered into an agreement to acquire full ownership of APK in Merseburg, Germany, which entered insolvency in May. The polyolefins producer said it believes APK’s solvent-based recycling technology will align with its existing technologies and allow it to upgrade its Circular and Low Carbon Solutions business. It has invested in APK in the past and made collaborative efforts to bring its solvent- based recycling technology for LDPE to scale. “We see APK’s solvent


based recycling technology as a vital addition and complementary to our existing and future mechanical and advanced

recycling operations,” said Yvonne van der Laan, LyondellBasell Executive Vice President, Circular and Low Carbon Solutions. “This is an important step toward reaching our goal to produce and market at least 2m tonnes of recycled and renewable based polymers annually by 2030.”

Partners launch RecyQuant project


SKZ and ColVisTec say they have established inline quantification of cross- polymer contamination, answering the challenge of quality fluctuation when using recyclates in extruder


processes.


In addition to general impurities, post-consumer recyclates often contain foreign polymers which can lead to inferior product quality. The partners say the
