K2022 PREVIEW | MACHINERY
Right: Zeppelin’s display will include its latest container mixers
methods,” says ColorStream inventor and Plastrac President, Ken Bullivant. “We successfully decoupled dosing and feed
from the main resin, moving blending to the plant floor and streaming colours and other additives to the feed throat of injection moulding machines and extruders to mix synchronously with virgin resin in real time,” he says. Colour changes and basic maintenance occur on the plant floor in the ColorStream system, which uses clean low pressure transport air to ensure there is nothing to clog and little to clean, the company says. The ColorStream equipment cart can support one or more additive feeders arranged radially around a collecting funnel for discharge into a vertically mounted, custom-made venturi. Color- Stream uses low-pressure air supplied by an electrically powered regenerative blower on the cart rather than compressed air from plant net- works.

TSM will be showcasing the Opti-Flake blender, which offers a throughput of up to 1,500kg/h and incorporates a patented reverse flight auger, which uses a double action weigh hopper capable of mixing post customer recyclate (non-pellet or pelletised) into the process. TSM Managing Director Richard O’Callaghan
says: “With our inherent versatility and capacity for innovation, we have adapted our technology to meet the needs of the plastics industry, allowing our clients to use increased post-consumer recyclate of all bulk densities and particle geom- etry in efforts to create a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy.” Other new products from the company include its 8th generation controller, auto-gauging systems, and cloud-based IIoT services.

Zeppelin will be promoting the more than 100 years of combined experience in mixing of bulk materials it has built up through its Henschel and MTI brands. The company’s portfolio includes mixers for every application, including universal and contain- er mixers through to horizontal mixers and heating/ cooling mixer combinations. All are said to deliver high mixing quality and offer a wide range of options ensuring they can be applied to many different processes. The company will present its new continuous deodorising system for processing of recycled materials. VOCs and other contaminants from the recycled material are removed via air flushing in the new system, which is said to incorporate a special design that considerably reduces overall energy use. The company says odour removal will be very
important if industry is to increase the proportion of recycled plastics used in new production because of the strong odour present in many recycled materials. Zeppelin will also present its extensive capabili- ties in bulk materials handling systems.
