Continua™SCM , Raven, and Conductex The ideal carbon black solutions for the Plastics industry

Birla Carbon, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of high-quality carbon black solutions, works relentlessly to create practical innovations that deliver exceptional results. Led by dedicated teams of scientists with unmatched expertise and a contemporary global R&D infrastructure, the company takes its customers beyond product selection to develop carefully crafted sustainable solutions to suit their needs.

With its innovation capabilities and technical expertise, Birla Carbon helps find the right solution through a variety of carbon black products that best suit the plastics industry - including Continua™ SCM, Raven, and Conductex carbon black solutions. Carbon black in plastics is colorfast, durable, and in some cases, highly conductive through these solutions. Many end-use plastics rely on the unique properties of carbon black to deliver all of these performance characteristics. In some plastics applications, however, one performance attribute takes precedence in shaping the desired result.

Raven

From creation to Continua™ SCM With a goal to provide customers with sustainable solutions, Birla Carbon launched Continua™ SCM, a brand of Sustainable Carbonaceous Materials. The SCM backed with technical expertise, superior quality, and global reach to enhances product circularity in the plastics, rubber and coatings industries. This has been a ground-breaking step in the availability and know-how of sustainable pigment solutions in the carbon black industry. Continua™ SCM enables significant and quantifiable carbon footprint reductions, paving the way for greener, cleaner, and more sustainable industry value chains.

Raven carbon blacks are incorporated during the production of concentrates or compounds to impart the desired level of jetness or tint in plastic parts produced by molding, extrusion, or other processes. Protection is achieved by converting UV radiation into heat. The Raven carbon black protects polymers such as polyolefins and engineering resins from degradation that would otherwise occur due to radiation absorption. This resistance to UV absorption from sunlight exposure contributes to improved weatherability and a longer life for a plastic product. The performance features of Raven carbon blacks in plastics include color, protection, and conductivity.

Conductex

Conductex carbon blacks by Birla Carbon offer good dispersion and processability, providing good conductive performance at low loading and excellent processing. They have lower toxicity

rates, making them more

environmentally friendly and sustainable. Conductex carbon blacks offer different degrees of electrical conductivity for various plastics requirements.

Whether customers require semi-conductivity for power cable shielding or electrostatic dissipation for sensitive electronics, Conductex carbon blacks deliver the appropriate conductivity

levels to various plastic

applications. The product portfolio includes carbon black solutions/products in conductive and ESD, engineered plastics, fibres, film and moulding, pipes, wires, and cables.

An immersive virtual experience – Birla Carbon Virtual Showroom Birla Carbon recently announced the launch of the industry first carbon black virtual showroom where the various applications of carbon black can be viewed through simple clicks and access to various types of information and solutions. The virtual showroom provides a fast, responsive and frictionless experience for consumers as they hover over their screens. Birla Carbon showcases the use of carbon black in plastics applications through the lens of a virtual car. This one-of-a-kind experience takes an individual through each part of a car and showcases, via an immersive experience, how carbon black can make a difference to the solutions it is a part of.

Birla Carbon global presence The company’s current

footprint extends across 12

countries on five continents with 16 manufacturing facilities for a combined annual production capacity of over 2 million tons. With a manufacturing presence in each of the key markets of Asia, Europe, and the Americas, Birla Carbon delivers uniform product quality and a consistent experience worldwide, backed by its state-of-the-art technology centers in Marietta (USA) and Taloja, India. For more than 160 years, Birla Carbon has been at the forefront of the carbon black industry, pushing innovation and development to ensure that practically any need in any place in the world can be met.
