Braskem’s bio-based milestone
Polyolefins producer Braskem is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its I’m Green bio-based PE portfolio, and further developing it with a 37% expansion in production capacity at its green ethylene unit in Brazil. Walmir Soller, CEO,
said: “The expansion of our bio-ethylene unit in 2023 was a significant step forward in our mission to support the industry and brand owners on the sustainability journey, and it brings us closer to our goal of becoming carbon- neutral by 2050.” Braskem’s sugar cane-sourced ethylene is said to offer the same quality and versatility as fossil-based products, but with the added benefit of capturing around 2 tonnes of carbon dioxide for every tonne produced. Total production capacity for green ethylene now stands at 275,000 tonnes/yr.

Acquisition of IFG enlarges Delta Tecnic
Global Polymer Solutions, owner of Spanish custom colour and additive master- batches producer for the cable and PVC industry Delta Tecnic, has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of IFG. Headquartered near
Milan, Italy, IFG is the result of a combination of Ultra- batch, Masterbatch, and Eurocolor. It specialises in the production of additives such as UV stabilisers, anti-fogging, anti-blocking, slip, anti-static, flame retardants, and also offers colour masterbatches. The acquisition will create
a Europe-based master- batch group with more than €100m of combined revenue across six plants in three countries.
With this acquisition,
Delta Tecnic continues its market consolidation strategy with the objective of creating a specialty chemicals platform with a highly complementary masterbatch offering for
Delta Tecnic says its new pigment solution allows PVC window profile manufacturers to comply with tough French regulations
markets such as agriculture and the cable sector, expanding its product range and leveraging Delta Tecnic’s strong presence in Spain and Mexico. Delta Tecnic has devel- oped a pigment solution that, together with a suitable compound formulation, allows manufacturers to comply with the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB) certification regulations, considered the most demanding bench- mark in Europe for exterior
building products. “Manufacturers need a solution that works in both turbomixers and direct extruder dosing, regardless of whether the machines are ten or thirty years old,” said Brita Kunze, Sales Director Deltacolor at Delta Tecnic. “That is why we have opted to develop a master- batch with pigments specifically selected for their lightfastness and outdoor performance.”

Project turns packaging into technical products
TechnoCompound, part of the Poly- mer-Group, and RE Plano, a subsidiary of Remondis Recycling, are working together on new concepts using post-consumer recyclates (PCR) in technical products in automotive applications. The project to use PCR packaging is being done against the backdrop of the numerous EU regula- tions that are currently being discussed and have already been passed, such as the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive.
6 COMPOUNDING WORLD | June 2025 Dirk Breitbach, Managing Director of
TechnoCompound, said: “The co-oper- ation with RE Plano is an important step in the up-cycling of PCR from the lightweight packaging fraction for technical applications, such as vehicle interiors. This application has very high requirements in terms of emissions and odours, as well as the mechanical properties of our products.” At its sorting plant in Bochum,
Germany, RE Plano uses an AI-support-
ed system that recognises individual packaging, enabling the company to achieve the highest purity levels in the recycled material it produces. Through compounding, additivation, and further material processing, Techno- Compound uses these raw materials to produce plastic grades that pass emission chamber tests specified by vehicle OEMs.
