Compounding World Asia 2017 | event preview

Compounding World Asia returns to Singapore

Singapore once again plays host to AMI’s Compounding World Asia conference in September, bringing together compounding industry experts to discuss key market and technical developments impacting on this dynamic and demanding regional market. Taking place on 21-22 September at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, the event is primarily focused on production of technical compounds based on engineering plastics, TPEs and performance polyolefins. Last year’s event drew an audience of more than 100 industry specialists. Sessions at Compounding World Asia 2017 will

address global and regional business strategies, polymer and additive innovations, as well as providing insight into the latest processing technology. The opening session of the conference will turn the spotlight onto market developments. Jon Nash, Head of Strategic Research at AMI Consulting in the UK, will get the conference underway with a presentation reviewing global compounding industry trends and examining how the role and positioning of Asia’s compounding sector is changing within it. He will be followed by Shanmugan Srinivasan, Managing Director of XMold Polymers in India, who will discuss the development of the com- pounding industry in India. His presentation will identify some of the major trends and opportunities evident in the Indian compounding industry.

The focus will then turn to application development. James Mitchell, Global Director Automotive Market at Solvay Engineering Plastics in France, will discuss how the company’s development of high temperature resistant engineering plastic compounds has allowed it to open up some new market application areas for polymers. Then Douglas A Brownfield, Strategic Marketing & Business Manager at Ampacet Corporation in the US, will explain how the company has exploited the combination of functional and aesthetic aspects of plastic compounds to develop a variety of sensorial technologies. Functionality is the theme for the third session of the
