HOW CAN I FOSTER BODY


POSITIVITY WITH MY KIDS? Body positivity is understanding that all bodies are good bodies, regardless of shape or size. This means not disparaging your body or other people's bodies based on appearance. Lead by example with your kids and celebrate what your body is capable of by focusing on how proper nutrition and exercise feel. Don't label food as "good" or "bad." Remember, everything in moderation—including dessert. And, teach your kids to move their bodies in a way that feels joyful to them and to encourage healthy and balanced eating. - Rabiya


Be a body positive role model for your children. Don't speak negatively about bodies or food. Kids are bombarded daily with distorted messages from our diet culture. It's our job to help them shape their vision into an uplifting one. Focus on positive body messages and ditch the good/bad food comments. By changing our culture at home, we encourage kids to love their bodies at any size and foster a healthier relationship with food. - Holly


Your kids, no matter their age, look up to you. You are where body positivity starts. Be mindful of language when you speak about yourself. Negative remarks you make about yourself will likely filter down to your kids. Shift conversations about weight to health and work as a team to focus on nutritious meals and activities. - Shanna
