It is powered by a 132 hp diesel engine and has a hydrostatic transmission. Navigation is based on a two-phase scheme. First, a map is used to plan the operation; then onboard sensors and software deal with any uncertainties, such as obsta- cles or moving objects. The most striking details are its steering system and path-planning algorithm. Availability: Arbus 4000 JAV is expected to be available as a service for citrus crops and silviculture (forestry) in 2021. And apart from the two existing units, two more will be built next year. The price is still to be determined.


Kilter AX-1 detects and eliminates weeds in row crops


Manufacturer: Kilter (Norway) Robot(s): AX-1 Task(s): detect and eliminate weeds in row crops Development start: 2010 Pricing: to be determined Units active: 4 Description: AX-1 is a hybrid robot from Kilter which will be a spin- off from the Adigo AS in 2021. It was developed to recognise weeds in row crops with vision and to eliminate them by precision applica- tion of herbicides. It uses RTK GPS and vision technology for naviga- tion and as a most striking detail it can spray micro-droplets of herbi- cide with millimetre precision. The AX-1 is one of various robot projects from Kilter and there are currently four active in Norway. The project is supported by the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme among others. Availability: The company plans to sell the robot in Germany and Norway in 2021 for a price that is still to be determined.
