NEXT can use live telemetry as well


NEXT Machine Management, a module that enables compatibility between ma- chinery and equipment from different manufacturers, has been enhanced with a live telemetry tool. NEXT was developed by FarmFacts, in cooperation with AGCO, Krone, Kuhn, Lemken, Rauch and Pöttinger. The data is stored in the cloud-based farm management system NEXT Farming LIVE. Next Machine Management uses data transmitted via an agrirouter to facilitate planning, production and documentation. The module can be used with every machine that is connected to the agrirouter. FarmFacts has now enhanced the module. An added telemetry solution enables farm managers – provided their machinery is equipped with the relevant technology – to monitor the locations where their ma- chines are deployed and to obtain a live snapshot of machinery data, such as cur- rent utilisation, output and spreading quantities. This makes allocating machin- ery to jobs easy, so that the entire fleet can be deployed more efficiently and processes can be professionally monitored.

FlightSensor counts insects real-time


FarmSense has announced the debut of its smart pest monitoring system, helping farmers to adopt the latest in artificial intel- ligence and analytics to improve insect monitoring and crop management. Farm- Sense’s FlightSensor uses novel optical sen- sor technology to automate the process of real-time insect classification and counting, providing immediate access for farmers who wish to make decisions on crop and pest control. The system can help farmers reduce pesticide and insecticide use by op- timising their application in both space and time. Data is sent to the FarmSense cloud via wireless. The sensor comes in a variety of sizes, and the algorithm can be adjusted depending on what insects a farmer needs to monitor. This technology virtually elimi- nates the need for sticky traps and manual insect counts. The FarmSense Smart Pest Monitoring System is currently offered only to selected partners, but it will be available to all in January 2021.


Manna and Pessl schedule irrigation


Intelligent irrigation software company Manna Irrigation and Pessl Instruments are collaborating to introduce a virtual-station based irrigation scheduling solution. The partnership will allow system integration that will bring more robust, personalised, and accurate irrigation recommendations to growers, powered by their local weather data. Pessl Instruments customers will be able to leverage their existing source of Pessl Instruments-generated weather data, which will be used for irrigation scheduling with Manna, without the need to manage any additional hardware. Users of the iMETOS weather service will be able to seamlessly connect their account to their Manna irrigation intelligence service, ena- bling Manna’s recommendations to be based on ET0, rain, and other parameters monitored on the farm.
