tered between his workforce and his business unit has been of great value. “People feel about him, very similar to the way that I do,” Bell said. “They respect him, and they trust him.” Jackson had no intention of leaving Boulder Valley,


but he said he felt an instant connection with Bell during the interview process. From there, he felt linked to the culture that had been instilled at Jeffco. He began at Jeffco as an area director at the North Termi-


nal. After a year, he took over the largest terminal at the time, Central Terminal, where he stayed for two and a half years.


Jackson said his leadership style is to support his


employees. So, should one of his staff indicate they want to become an executive director of transportation, “Well, then, I am working myself out of a job, because it’s my job to get them there,” Jackson laughed. Jackson said he feels very passionate about servant-style


leadership, which he learned from his boss at Ryder. “You are in a position, in a role, to develop people to


have success. So, whatever stage, whatever focus they are trying to pursue, give them every resource you can to be successful,” he shared. “It keeps your employees and your folks happy, because they have something to strive for, as opposed to being in something that is stagnant.” Jackson said a leader’s job is to fight for the employees


and give them every resource that they need for success. He described an upside-down triangle, where the people at the top are employees like the bus drivers and the bus assistants, and he is at the very bottom. He works for the people on top, because his job is to protect them and get them whatever they need. He added that the front-line staff are the true experts. “My passion comes from seeing my folks happy,” Jack-


son said. “What’s the next new thing I can do to give you guys something?” One way Jackson inspires success is by offering profes-


sional development training to his team. He works with a consultant who has provided four years of training in
