Jan/Feb, 2024 Plasmatreat Launches Inline Plasma System
ELGIN, IL — Metal oxidation complicates processes in electronics manufacturing. Cur- rent trends, such as further miniaturization of components and new data transmission stan- dards, pose additional challenges. The unique REDOX-Tool from Plasmatreat GmbH pro- vides a remedy: it removes oxide layers gently, reliably, in an environmentally friendly way, and efficiently in an inline process. The REDOX-Tool, a plasma treatment
unit from Plasmatreat, now removes oxide layers in an inline process. The innovative system uses only a combination of nitrogen and hydrogen. It is designed as a tunnel solu- tion: A barcode reading option is provided to have full tracking and traceability. Depending on the configuration and throughput required,
they are then fed in one or two lanes through the tunnel, which is flooded with inert gas, heated and prepared for plasma reduction. Plasma nozzles, also using inert gas, reliably remove the oxide layer on top of the metal sur-
face. Controlled cooling of the products under inert conditions stabilizes the reduction achieved for the next process step. For com- plete process control, the tunnel is equipped with a range of process safety sensors. The REDOX-Tool reliably removes ox-
ides from the metal surfaces of electronic components. This optimizes their surface and adhesion properties and promotes reliable bonding in downstream processes. Defects, delamination and product failures are effec- tively reduced. The REDOX-Tool can be inte-
grated inline with existing equipment. Contact: Plasmatreat USA, Inc., 2541
