CEA Strengthens Hand Soldering Operations with Weller Equipment
By Timothy David C
arolina Electronic Assemblers (CEA), a long-established contract electronics manufacturer based in North Carolina,
has reinforced its commitment to high-quali- ty craftsmanship with the integration of premium soldering equipment from Weller.
Over the past two years, the company
has implemented several Weller systems, including the WT1M, WT2M, and WXR3 soldering stations. These tools have deliv- ered measurable improvements in hand soldering and repair processes, helping CEA meet the increasingly diverse and de- manding needs of its customer base.
Attention to Detail Founded in 1984, CEA serves a range
of industries, offering services including PCB assembly, wire harness assembly, and full box builds. The company is known for its meticulous attention to detail, cus- tomer-focused culture, and long-term com- mitment to quality. As electronics continue to evolve, CEA consistently adapts its processes and tooling to keep pace with technological demands without compro- mising on reliability. CEA’s decision to adopt Weller solder-
ing systems wasn’t prompted by any partic- ular operational issue or failure. Instead, the choice was driven by a strategic desire

to improve capability and flexibility on the production floor. “We didn’t switch to Weller because something went wrong,” says Patrick Yauch, operations manager at Car-
olina Electronic Assemblers. “We chose them because of their quality, the versatility of their tips and irons, and the support infra- structure they offer.” The Weller WT1M and WT2M sta-
tions are compact, powerful, and easy to integrate into any workbench setup. The WT1M is a single-channel, 90W soldering station, while the WT2M provides dual- channel functionality with up to 150W of power. Both units feature an intuitive LCD display with pushbutton controls, al- lowing operators to easily configure tem- peratures, monitor tool status, and toggle between settings. Their compatibility with Weller’s com-
prehensive range of soldering and desol- dering tools, including micro soldering pencils and heavy-duty irons, means that they can be tailored to virtually any pro- duction or repair task.
Flexibility The WXR3 rework system is a high-
end, three-channel unit that combines sol- dering, desoldering, and hot air capabili- ties in one integrated platform. With a ro- bust 420W power output, the WXR3 sup- ports simultaneous operation of up to three tools, ideal for handling multi-step rework or intricate assemblies.
