WHERE IN THE WORLD?

break?’ The mast on a Rocket is 20ft and it was above the mast and breaking. We were in its throat and couldn’t rise to it. It filled the boat and went down the neck of my wetsuit. We were spooked! We turned and ran back to shore. There wasn’t another one all day, but we’d had enough!

Malcom Mepham Captured my heart

Sailing became an unexpected passion for me in my 20s. Although I wasn’t raised with the sport, I felt drawn to it and began racing with any crew that would have me. Since then, my love for sailing has flourished. I’ve pursued further education, immersed myself in boat projects and embraced the cruising lifestyle aboard my yacht. This January, I had the extraordinary opportunity to sail as guest crew aboard a Challenge 72, completing a voyage from Mexico to the Galápagos Islands and back to Panama. That experience cemented

my determination to someday own a larger yacht and explore the Caribbean and the world’s finest cruising grounds.

Sailing has captured my heart in

a way that few pursuits ever have. While I’ve enjoyed alpine skiing and mountain biking, the combination of travel, a connection with mother nature and life aboard has become my greatest passion. The sailing community is filled with remarkable individuals and inspiring stories that continue to fuel my dream: to sail the world and live the life I’ve always imagined.

Chadwick Hartin Whirlwind adventure

I started sailing only two years ago when a friend introduced me to the sport; this year we competed in the Dart 18 World Championships. My journey from zero to Worlds has been the most unforgettable whirlwind adventure. We sail at Mumbles Yacht Club in Swansea, South Wales. I trapezed

in my first-ever outing and fell in love immediately. My first competition was two months later, with only three hours of experience under my belt, and my first Nationals, which was at my home club, all in the same year. I’ve been welcomed and encouraged by my club and the circuit. I’ve since passed my PB2 and volunteer at events, club racing and training. I’ve joined the landside committee at my local club with the hope to join the executive committee in the future. I can’t wait to see what I can achieve and hope I can encourage others too!
