Canadian Show Jumping Team Seventh in Spanish Nations’ Cup
Vejer de la Frontera, Spain – The Canadian Show Jumping Team finished sev- enth in the CSIO3* Nations’ Cup held during the An- dalucía October Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain. In its final outing of the
season, the Canadian team was one of 15 countries competing in the Nations’ Cup that offered €50,000 in prize money. Course de- signer Javier Trenor Paz of
Spain set fences at a height of 1.50m in the expansive grass arena for the two- round competition which saw the top eight teams move forward to the second round. Tim Wilks, 27, cur-
rently residing in Henley on Thames, England, was the lead-off rider for Canada. Distance Series #2 at Ajax Downs on September 21, remaining undefeated in 2022. The 7-year-old son of Ivory James - Had to Be Fandango, bred and
owned by Carol and Jaime Robertson of Hillsburgh, ON solidified his posi- tion as the best Quarter Horse in the country with a one-length score in the 440-yard dash in a time of 21.410, besting the former record of 21.520 set by Mitford in 2013. His final time speed index of 112 is one of the high- est marks in recent Ajax Downs his- tory.

ridden by Josh Scott, Had to Be Ivory broke sharply from post position one and was immediately challenged by the 4-year-old filly Streakinlilwagon, one of five horses entered in the race by Ajax Downs’ leading trainer Jason Pascoe. But in a few strides, had to Be Ivory sped clear of the Pascoe runners and sped to his record-setting victory.
