Grand Finale, and hopes to compete in a full season with ORHA next year. A future goal of hers is to win a buckle, so be- tween now and then, she’ll be working hard on lead changes, stops, and spins. She credits a supportive group of friends and the ORHA community with helping her calm her nerves in the warm up pen, and making her first time in the show arena a success.
Lee-Ann Donofrio: Lee-Ann lives in Lakefield, Ontario, and has a very diverse background with horses, including preparing thoroughbreds for the track! She boards her horse at Bill and
Horse shall be treated humanely, with dignity, respect and compassion at all times. The AQHA drug-testing program is designed to ensure that horses com- peting in AQHA competitions are doing so in a manner that will promote the safety and well being of all horses com- peting and the enforcement of fair and equitable rules and procedures. Each year, AQHA releases the AQHA Guide- lines and Rules for Drugs and Medica- tions. This educational resource is available online to serve as an addition to AQHA’s official medications rules set forth in the violations section of the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations. This resource, in addition to the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations should be re- viewed before attending any AQHA-ap- proved event or show. It is imperative to understand the AQHA Equine Drugs and Medications Rules and real-life ap- plication in practical situations. The pur- pose is to help accommodate legitimate therapy in compliance with the require- ments of the rules. Please note, these are only guidelines to serve as an educa- tional supplement. It is important to con- sult a licensed veterinarian in determining whether a particular sub- stance is required for the welfare of a horse and when determining the dosage appropriate for such horse under AQHA’s rules. In the event where a con- ditionally permitted medication is pre- scribed by a licensed veterinarian and is in the best interest for the well being of the horse, a Medication Report Form can be filed with AQHA. The form must
Tracy Rinzema’s farm, and says she is learning so much just from watching others at the farm working with their horses. It was Lee-Ann and her horse’s first time entering an ORHA show, beginning with the 2 Year Old Prospect class. She said her experience was amazing, and she enjoyed watching all of the classes. She looks forward to seeing which class will be a good fit for her and her horse next season!
Shilo Shannon: While Shilo’s isn’t a new face at ORHA shows, we’re used to seeing her on the sidelines, supporting her daughter in the show ring! But the Grand Finale marked Shilo’s own entrance into the reining world! From Oro-Medonte, On- tario, Shilo has a background in

including
VIO403.8 regarding submitting the medication report within one hour after administration of the medication. If you submit a medication report online, you will not be required to also submit a physical form to show management in the show office onsite. Exhibitors will still be able to complete and submit hard-copy forms in the show office be- fore a horse competes, should they choose that option. For more informa- tion, review AQHA Rules VIO403.1 - VIO403.12, which are the requirements to authorize administration of a condi- tionally permitted therapeutic medica- tion in the Official AQHA Rules & Regulation at

Disclaimer: Because the online
version of the AQHA Rulebook can be updated throughout the year, it should be considered the most-current version of the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations. The AQHA drug-testing program
is designed to ensure that horses com- peting in AQHA events are doing so in a manner that will promote the safety and well being of all horses competing and the enforcement of fair and equi- table rules and procedures. AQHA’s policies concerning the administration

Some of her goals for next year include “staying on”, remembering her patterns, showing alongside her daughter, and having fun! She describes ORHA shows as having a re- laxed and inviting vibe, which supports those goals.
Chasity Massena: Chasity is an impressive youth rider from Lucknow, Ontario, who has pri- marily participated in rodeo events until recently. She set her sights on training her first rein- ing horse – on her own – and competing in a Futurity, which is just what she did at the Grand Finale! After that, she entered

Rule-Change Proposals The final standing committee re-
ports from the 2022 AQHA Convention are online, and it is time to think ahead for 2023! The American Quarter Horse Association wants to hear any sugges- tions members have to make AQHA membership, programs and services reach their fullest potential. Each spring, AQHA holds a con-
vention to review AQHA rules and poli- cies. During
the
member-submitted rule changes and suggestions are also reviewed. AQHA members are vital to the Association and have been influential in shaping the or- ganization since its founding in 1940. The opportunity to propose new rules or changes allows members to voice their ideas and help continue to improve AQHA for future generations. If you are an AQHA member, you can submit a suggestion for a rule change for the AQHA Official Handbook. All propos- als are due by December 31 of each year.
To submit a rule-change proposal:
• Complete a rule-change proposal form. • Define the problem and develop as
Youth Rookie, and hopes to re- turn for more in 2023. Chasity says her first ORHA experience was better than she ever imag- ined, thanks to the kind and helpful people she met at this show.
We’re so glad to have
these new members join us! One thing all four of these newcom- ers have in common is that they all commented on the warm welcome they received from ORHA, and the ongoing support they know is available to them as part of the ORHA family! We look forward to getting
together as that family at the Banquet to be held in January, where we can further celebrate the successes of 2022, and look forward to new memories to be made in 2023. See y’all there!
