PORCELAIN & CERAMIC TILES

BLURRED LINES Eloise Street, Marketing Executive at Hampshire Tile Warehouse, explains how

easy it can be to create a seamless inside to out look using the Valverdi Indoor-Out porcelain floor tiles.

Indoor-outdoor living is a look that is synonymous with luxury. From wide sliding doors to open-plan living spaces, there’s something about removing that threshold between inside and outdoors that feels instantly extravagant. While architectural planning and clever design will create that space, the right flooring will help to bring the elements together.

Established in 2013, Valverdi Indoor-Out sought to bring together the wide range of designs available for internal tiles with the practical benefits of outdoor porcelain to create an ensemble of co-ordinating ranges. Since then, we have launched a new collection every year, each featuring an array of different finishes, designs and sizes.

This year is proving to be a successful one so far for Valverdi, having exhibited at the Surface Design Show in January and coming in third place in the 2019 Tomorrow’s Tile & Stone Awards. We will also be showcasing our products to landscapers and garden designers at the Landscape Show at Battersea Park in September and Futurescape at Sandown in November.

Valverdi tiles are made of low-maintenance and extremely hardwearing vitrified porcelain. This material is almost as hard as diamond, making it the ideal choice for both residential and commercial projects. They are also rectified, which gives them sharp and straight edges, allowing the installer to create slimline grout joints for a modern look.

All external tiles are finished with an R11-rated slip resistant surface, which would be considered too rough for indoor use, but is ideally suited to patios, terraces,

pathways, steps and even swimming pool surrounds. As porcelain is resistant to staining, scratching, fading and moss and mould growth, outdoor spaces will look the same for many years.

As part of our 2019 portfolio, Valverdi has also launched the Champagne range of large-format tiles. Inspired by French limestone, these 1200x600mm tiles have a realistic natural stone finish in a beautiful light beige colouring. Other new additions include a Dark colour and 900x900mm size in the extremely popular riven Iguazu range and an indoor semi-polished finish option in the contemporary Shard range.

For areas where decking is preferred, Valverdi has two wood-effect ranges with colours including natural browns and beiges or contemporary grey tones. Other best- sellers include Portico and Burnham – large-format slate and cement-effect finishes that are ideal for both new build properties and extensions.

When it comes to installation, Valverdi recommend a solid base with a suitable tile adhesive for both inside and outdoors. However, the external tiles can also be installed using a pedestal system such as Eterno Ivica adjustable bases or PorcelQuick Adped adhesive pedestals. PorcelQuick also stock a range of stainless-steel trims for creating quick and contemporary edges on patios, steps or swimming pool surrounds.

Valverdi tiles are in stock in the UK and available to order in showrooms and online. Samples are available at all HTW outlets, and brochures can be found on the Valverdi website.
