TTS AWARDS 2019 2ND PLACE: BAL BOARD - BAL

The runner up in second place is BAL with BAL Board, a breakthrough in tile backer board technology.

Lightweight and easy to install, it has minimal dust when cutting and is manufactured with low-carbon technology, making it safer for the environment and the fixer.

BAL Board is 15-35% lighter per m² than cement-based boards, yet, due to its unique construction, it is also more rigid than foam-based boards, providing a more stable board.

The product can support a combined weight of tiles and adhesive of up to 100kg/m², meaning that it can support larger, heavier tiles.

BAL Board can be simply scored and snapped – with no specialist cutting tools required. With BAL Board in particular, no specialist screws are required – it can be simply screw fixed with suitable stainless steel or hot- dipped galvanised screws to timber stud work, reducing costs and installation time.

BAL Board is also fire-rated, non-flammable and non- combustible. What’s more, it is water-resistant, meaning it won’t warp, rot or degrade over time, even in the wettest conditions.

What they said: “We’re absolutely over the moon that BAL Board has been named as runner-up in these fantastic awards. What makes it even better is that the awards are voted on by the general public – this is a real accolade for the company and for this amazing product which is really challenging the conventional backer board market.“

Alex Underwood, Head of Marketing at BAL.
