WOOD AND LAMINATE: FOCUS ON

A Home from Home: Eden Locke Aparthotel

With a plethora of durable and stunning styles available, the team at Atkinson & Kirby has been able to provide stylish flooring options for a variety of applications, most recently being the Eden Locke aparthotel, the latest design-led aparthotel from real estate developers SACO Property Group.

Located in the heart of Edinburgh, the aparthotel has been created to immerse visitors in the local neighbouring culture. Eden Locke has been designed with travellers in mind; providing a stunning living area that allows guests to experience the ‘unique and authentic’ surroundings, alongside a functional living space with fully fitted kitchens, for the urban traveller who may want to cater for themselves.

To complement the trend-conscious aparthotel, Atkinson & Kirby was chosen to provide a high-quality flooring solution to stand the test of time in both durability and design.

Around 1600m2 of Atkinson & Kirby’s grey stained flooring,

created specifically for the scheme, was supplied to the renovation of Eden Locke, providing the perfect solution for the aparthotel’s bedrooms, bars and corridors, with the idea of the product being rolled out across more of the Locke developments Europe-wide.

The second Locke aparthotel was created by renovating an existing office building that had fallen into disrepair and was given a new lease of life by the team at SACO Property Group. With the clear attention to detail and design aspects of the project, alongside the help of a variety of manufacturers, including Atkinson & Kirby, the aparthotel has since been well

received by guests and industry alike, even being named one of the ‘top 10 design hotels in the world’ in a list by industry experts.

Jaime Pedrosa, Managing Director of U Developments, and DM of the scheme, said: “The team are thrilled with the fantastic reception the second Locke aparthotel, Eden Locke, has received since its launch. The Atkinson & Kirby flooring supplied for the project helped to enhance our carefully selected design and colour scheme, and we’ve been reassured that this high- quality flooring will stand the test of time.”

Jaime continued: “We were very pleased with both the final outcome of the Eden Locke project, and the service we received from the team at Atkinson & Kirby, that we continue to work with them on projects - we’ve even selected this style of flooring to be rolled out across further Locke developments, Europe-wide.”

Zara Prescott, Communications Executive for Atkinson & Kirby, said: “We love the final look and finish of the Eden Locke project. Being a busy hotel setting, it’s vital to select a range that will be hardwearing, but we’re also very pleased with how the grey stained design was able to provide a trend- led solution for this design focused client.”

With so many flooring options available, contractors looking to add a touch of style to their project should consider selecting a supplier that understands the current demands in the market, providing styles that can handle the large volume of footfall in high-traffic environments, whilst still keeping its trend-led focus to stay fashionable for years to come.
