EDITOR’S PICK MARBLE MANIA Marble Mania

For the past year or so, the trend for marble patterning on products has only become more prevalent, particularly within interiors. Here, we take a look at the many different marble-effect options now available when it comes to flooring designs.

The epitome of high-end luxury, marble flooring was once only seen in the most prestigious of establishments. Now, as technology has evolved and enabled even the most intricate details of natural materials to be replicated, homeowners can easily achieve a marble look in their own living environment for an affordable price.

RICHLY VEINED

Though marble effects have been popular for some time now, the styles available have altered significantly and we have seen a particular move towards heavily veined, exaggerated effects.

“Marvellous marble effects are always steady sellers but this year the veining effects of new products have been increasingly dramatic in design, and the more sumptuously striated the better.

“Bathroom splashbacks and kitchen countertops are making the most of the striations in large-format porcelains that cleverly imitate the premium marbles. In fact, a trend has emerged for an overall marble look that covers both floors and walls, which is made easier by the increased availability of products from manufacturers in different

thicknesses, formats and even materials that are designed to work together, covering all of the room. For example, a marble design could be available in 60cmx60cm floor tiles in high-tech porcelain and also in a white body ceramic in a smaller format for walls, thus creating a complete and co-ordinated look, yet still keeping to the same design and colourway. In terms of colour, black is a noticeable winner at the moment with all black and pure black decorative schemes making a dramatic impact, closely followed by all white, all grey and all golden tones.”
