ABINGDON FLOORING INVESTS IN NEW MACHINES TO INCREASE PRODUCTION


As it looks towards increasing production capacity and boosting efficiency, Abingdon Flooring has invested in several new 1/10th gauge high-speed CAM tufting machines.


Enabling the manufacturer to significantly increase annual production while maintaining a high- quality of end product, the new tufting machines are already in operation.


Representing a sizeable first step in a programme of investment and improvements at the company’s Welsh factory, which has also included the launch of a Centre of Development & Excellence, the new machines enable Abingdon Flooring to produce fine-gauge carpet at a higher rate.


BEAULIEU FLOORING SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCES BIG PLANS FOR DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY


Beaulieu Flooring Solutions has announced an exciting year of customer- and employee-focused celebrations ahead to mark 60 years since the founding of the Beaulieu Company.


To kick off festivities, Beaulieu Flooring Solutions will exhibit at tradeshows spread across Europe, USA and Asia during the first quarter of 2019. Starting in January at BAU 2019 in Germany, the marketing and technical experts will go straight on to Las Vegas for Surfaces, followed by Domotex USA and Domotex Asia in February/March respectively. Sales teams will be on the ground at additional industry events throughout the year for face-to-face meetings with customers, including Domotex 2019.


Further plans include new product introductions to support the flooring industry in embracing segment and consumer trends. There will also be a big emphasis on enhancing personal contact with customers.

Steve Byrne, Managing Director, Abingdon Flooring, explained: “We have a history for excellent quality of product, but we are also acutely aware that the market is continuing to demand better value without a compromise on end product and so we must ensure we are fit to respond to this.


“A considerable investment, not only does the tufting expansion give us more physical capacity, importantly it allows us to produce carpets of equivalent quality at a lower cost price. This effect is already being felt in the Abingdon Flooring line-up. The new machines are just one part of a wide- ranging programme of improvements at our Wales production site as we strive to become fit for the challenges of the market well into the future.”


Alongside the new machines and a


state-of-the-art Centre of Development and Excellence, Abingdon Flooring is also in the last phase of commissioning a brand-new backing line. Alongside the tufting machines, the new line will allow the manufacturer to boost efficiency again, while maintaining its reputation for carpets of excellent quality. The line is expected to be fully operational by the beginning of 2019.
