Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association’s Accreditation Schemes by CHSA
ABOUT THIS PRODUCT...
Standards are in the DNA of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association. The Association established its first Accreditation Scheme in 1997. It has since established five additional Schemes and today maintains standards in the industry, guaranteeing ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Buyers of cleaning and hygiene products can trust the CHSA mark, recognising it as a guarantee of quality.
The CHSA’s six Accreditation Schemes are for manufacturers of paper- based products, plastic-based products, cotton-based products, and cleaning chemicals, for general manufacturers and for distributors of cleaning and hygiene products.
COMPANY PROFILE
The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers’ Association represents manufacturers and distributors of cleaning and hygiene products. It operates six Accreditation Schemes and a Code of Practice, which incorporates the Competition & Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code. They guarantee members:
• Trade ethically and sustainably; • Provide supporting information for claims made; • Provide quality, fit for purpose products; and • Make sure what’s on the box is what’s in the box.
Our Standards: Your Guarantee.
An Independent Inspector ensures the integrity of the Accreditation Schemes. During the auditing process, he checks the labels contain the required information and that the product is as stated on the label. Depending on the product, this involves checking the sheet count, width, duty, weight, marketing claims and or performance of the product. He also assesses the member’s quality assurance procedures. For distributors he confirms if product is from a CHSA Accredited Manufacturer and where it is not, that it conforms to the specification of the relevant scheme.

8 AWARDS 2024
During the first half of 2023, the Independent Inspector completed 83 audits. He checked approximately 1,000 labels to confirm they accurately represented the content of the packaging. Approximately 2,700 individual products were checked, making sure they met the specifications of the relevant Accreditation Scheme standard. For distributor members, the Independent Inspector checked approximately 24,000 stock lines.
Committed to upholding the integrity of the Schemes, the CHSA’s governing Council will expel any Scheme member who, despite being offered the guidance required to correct issues, consistently fails to conform to the relevant Scheme Standard.
The CHSA’s advice to buyers is to look for the Accreditation Scheme logo to guarantee quality.
