COVER STORY

nuances and we ensure our clients are made aware of them all before they commit to a purchase. We learn about our clients, their building, their staff and their budget to ensure we are making informed and economic recommendations.

Operators Your evacuation assistants are lifesavers in waiting: there may come a time when they have to use their training, assist an evacuation and prevent somebody from being stuck in an emergency. As such, you should be doing all you can to make their evacuation as simple, effective and well-rehearsed as possible.

Adding extra stresses like ineffective or irregular training, difficult to operate or broken equipment, or manual handling will reduce the efficiency and the safety of their evacuation.

The evacuation equipment that involves transfer may require your assistants to be part of this transfer. In some buildings/workplaces, this will not be an issue, but this cannot be assumed, there may need to be additional purchase of manual handling training or equipment that aids this. However, in some cases this is simply not possible and therefore your PED recommendation from Evaccess would consider this accordingly.

Some evacuations require moving upwards on some stairs. This cannot fall to the strength of your operators in any case and therefore we would help you choose powered equipment which can move up and down the stairs with no strain on the operator.

Manual handling injuries in the workplace can be extremely costly to a business, and the risk is higher in an emergency when there is an element of panic involved.

It can be hard to try and remember all the different factors that go into finding the PED that will work for your business and mistakes can be costly, that’s why at Evaccess we make you the decision maker, but we will ensure that you are presented with all of the information and factors that will affect the practicality of different makes and models.

We offer a detailed site survey and one-to-one consultancy where we will get to know you, your business and your budget and make sure we only suggest a PED that is suitable for all of them. Unlike our competitors, we are not manufacturers and therefore we are not tied to any specific kit; we can make recommendations from a wider catalogue spanning multiple providers.

Don’t take risks with your evacuation plan. Make sure you do your part to protect your staff and your visitors without letting jargon, bias or lack of industry know-how cause needless spending. Trust in the experts at Evaccess to provide you with quality, fairness and transparency.

Call or email us today and make your first step towards a safe, equal and dignified evacuation.
