Hello and welcome to the February 2025 issue of Tomorrow’s FM.
The UK is currently enduring a torrid storm season, with both Éowyn and Herminia, the fifth and sixth named storms of the season, hitting parts of the country within the space of a few days. They inflicted gusts of up to 90mph and caused widespread damage to both commercial and residential properties in some parts of the country. There were also tragic reports of several fatalities being caused by trees falling on cars.

This all brings into focus the impact climate change and global warming is having on weather patterns, with adverse events such as these becoming more commonplace. One over-looked impact this can have on businesses beyond the health and safety, is on seasonal power cuts. Whilst they are a familiar challenge for facilities managers, with winter weather becoming more severe and increasingly unpredictable, the risks of losing power are rising. In his feature on page 6, Russell Pritchard, UK Sales Manager at Central Power Services, asks what organisations can do to protect themselves against seasonal outages.
Also in this issue, we have Principle Cleaning Services discussing the critical importance of maintaining controlled environments in laboratories and research facilities for our Cleaning & Hygiene feature, and Dr Axel Buether, one of the world’s leading colour experts and pioneer of modern evidence-based colour psychology, talking about his work in collaboration with Bona to develop a new colour collection in the Flooring focus.
Eurest explores how businesses can keep their food and beverage offer fresh – starting with breakfast, for our spotlight on Food & Drink, whilst Proptivity explains how property owners can future-proof their spaces by making mobile connectivity a cornerstone of design in our Corporate Real Estate feature.
Enjoy the read.
