Hello and welcome to the February issue of Tomorrow’s FM.

I’m sure you’ll agree that January was quite a start to the year for FM. The collapse and insolvency of Carillion brought with it an unfavourable

media spotlight and a myriad of running commentaries on the nature of the outsourcing industry. Indeed, at the time of publication, there have been profit warnings from Capita which is likely to add further fuel to the flames.

We may then, hasten to remind people outside the industry that it was in fact construction projects attached to Carillion that bought the company to its knees and it is now the small contractors that are paying the price.

It seems fitting that we’re visiting the Construction & BIM world for one of our features this month. Johnson Controls considers why a system integration-

first mindset is essential for FMs, whilst Atlas Residential looks at the need for operational considerations for those developments in the ‘Build to Rent’ sector.

Our Food& Drink feature, which has proved popular in past few years, sees Gather & Gather discussing their partnership with social enterprise Well

Grounded, and Vacherin arguing that the catering on offer in an organisation could help the UK’s ongoing productivity puzzle. allmanhall inspires a school with their change management advice and Radish investigates the difference in dietary needs between the young and old.

Quadrilect shows how FMs can make an impact on the senior management agenda in our Training & CPD feature and Anabas look at how upskilling ambitious individuals will help to solve the challenge of recruiting talent.

Also this month, we return to Cleaning with Genesis Biosciences explaining

how the FM industry can tackle antimicrobial resistance and Facilicom taking a look at innovation in the industry.

As always, our regular 10 questions feature makes an appearance along with our wonderful columnist Liz Kentish. There should be plenty for all to enjoy until the next month!

Enjoy the issue! Registered in England & Wales No: 06786728
