CLEANING Case Study - Terrazzo Tile Refurbishment

The Preparation Group’s contracting division, PPC was recently contracted to refurbish 132m2 of terrazzo tiles in the washroom of a manufacturing site in Yorkshire. The tiles were old and in a poor state, with a huge build- up of dirt, crud and staining.

For the first stage, the company used an STG450 machine with the coarsest 400 grit Storm Diamond Pads, to remove both the dirt and scratches. This revealed the brightly coloured tiles that were hidden underneath. For the next stage, 800 grit Storm Pads were employed to leave the surface with a light sheen. The last stage used the 1500 grit for a glossy, easy clean finish. After refurbishing the floor, the room was re- fitted with the cubicles and sanitary ware.

The customer purchased the 1500 Storm Pads to use with their own auto scrubbing machine for the floor’s on- going care and maintenance.
