The RubberGard EPDM roofing system has become part of a proven formula for success for developer, JR Smart, with four office buildings designed by architects Morgan2Morgan, using the system as part of a warm roof build up. As with the previous three office buildings, the RubberGard EPDM roofing system has been installed by Firestone Licensed roofing contractor, Envirotek Specialist Products. A further two office buildings are planned for the scheme and these are also anticipated to follow the same, proven specification.

Envirotek covered the roof with a vapour control layer before installing a tapered insulation as part of the warm roof build up, creating falls for drainage. The RubberGard EPDM membrane was then fully adhered to the insulation with Envirotek completing all of the detailing, including the lightwell, the lift tower over-run and the roof-top plant room.
Firestone’s RubberGard EPDM roofing system was also used to waterproof the building’s communal terraces at level 6, and paving slabs were laid over the membrane to create a hardwearing anti-slip surface. Paving slabs have also been laid to create walkways on the trafficable areas of the roof to enable maintenance teams to access roof-top plant, with support pads beneath all paved areas to protect the RubberGard EPDM membrane from abrasion and aid drainage.
