new LED luminaires can be equipped with the latest tech innovations from the moment they are installed. This ensures LED lighting systems are future ready by keeping them relevant and efficient, even years down the line.

Lighting up the workplace Beyond generating energy savings, well-designed lighting drives accuracy, energy and productivity that enhance the efficiency of businesses themselves. Whether in a factory, office or a small retail space, it is broadly recognised that unpleasant or bad lighting can affect people’s moods or even represent a safety risk. Good lighting is known to reduce fatigue, improve worker morale, concentration and productivity, as well as ensure a safe working environment with optimal visibility.

When Cree worked with Thermo Fisher Scientific to upgrade the lighting in its production facilities, Stephanie Nilsen, Director of Operations, noted that the effects were immediately noticeable: “I felt more awake at work, I felt more in tune and alive, and it felt very energising.” Employees noted that the improved light levels made it easier to work accurately and spot defects in workmanship, enhancing the quality of their production output.

In the U.S., Cree worked with McLaren Health Care on a system-wide lighting upgrade of 11 primary hospitals, installing 25,000 LED fixtures to bolster staff productivity, enhance patient experience, increase hospital safety and security, while reducing the group’s carbon footprint.

Dr Ali Saad at McLaren, noted that “great lighting is essential in a hospital because it allows for a physician to make the right diagnosis.” Not only has the upgrade reduced the group’s annual bills by $1.6 million and helped make facilities safer, it has also contributed to McLaren delivering first-class care to its patients.

More than just lighting Installing an LED system will do more than just cut costs.

Beyond improving energy-efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions, a quality lighting system provides the level of comfort required for people and businesses to thrive.

And as technology advances and LED lighting systems become even more sophisticated, we expect the benefits of LEDs to shine even brighter.
