HCL breaks new ground with CSCS fall protection

qualification Fall protection expert, HCL Safety, is setting new standards in fall protection installation safety with the launch of a new CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) recognised qualification.

Thomas Dudley

Launches Kinetic Thomas Dudley Ltd’s new Kinetic® is an intelligent water-saving ‘all- in-one’ electronic urinal control, offering quick and easy installation.

Kinetic® is stylish and aesthetically- pleasing, suitable for any washroom environment and offers a choice to be installed onto pipework, wall or ceiling. The contemporary urinal flushing valve has been designed to save up to 80% of water in comparison with traditional petcock and automatic cistern installations.

Dudley’s new, innovative product offers a quick and easy set-up solution with simple instructions; saving time and guaranteeing accurate water-savings without the constant requirement of refilling and emptying the cistern. Kinetic® is available in both glossy white and grey finishes. It can be powered by mains or battery and is suitable for water pressures of 0.1 – 10 bar.

Dudley also offers a range of concealed solutions that are ideal for both domestic bathrooms and commercial washrooms such as its Vantage and Miniflo concealed cisterns. The products both offer 6/4, 5/3 or 4/2.6 litre dualflush to maximise water efficiency and are approved by WRAS and the European Water Label Scheme.

Thomas Dudley also offer a wide range of water-saving taps; push-plates, buttons and touch-free sensors.

As of 1st October 2017, CITB requires that CSCS card applicants need to prove they have the training qualifications required for their job. Working with CITB, HCL Safety has developed and introduced a course dedicated to work at height safety installation for its employees - ‘HCL Fall Arrest Systems Training’.

Jonathan Seymour, Business Leader for HCL explained: “Protecting those working at height is fundamental to the construction industry, and we are delighted with this new CITB initiative. It supports the shift toward improving safety measures, and has given us a great opportunity to develop our existing operational procedures into a

recognised installation training course for our employees.”

HCL’s proactive approach has resulted in a course recognised by CITB as the equivalent to a level 2 NVQ under the assessed route. The course is exclusively available to HCL’s workforce and is based on an existing, in-house, competency-based training and development scheme, which HCL has been using since 2006. This has been developed and adapted to meet CITB requirements and all HCL technicians are now working towards gaining their Blue Card specifically for the occupation of Personal Fall Protection Installer - Permanent Solutions.

Roger Boulter, Training Manager for HCL, concluded: “We are delighted to be part of this drive and happy that we have been able to support CITB. This course gives peace of mind to construction companies that with HCL installers they can be assured of knowledge, understanding and experience of installing permanent, personal fall protection solutions.”
