Run by its members for its members, the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association represents manufacturers and distributors of cleaning and hygiene products. Its Accreditation Schemes guarantee ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Every member has signed its Code of Practice, which incorporates the Competition & Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code.

About this Product/Service

Standards are in the DNA of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association. The Association established its first Accreditation Scheme in 1997. Today it maintains standards, guaranteeing ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’. Buyers of cleaning and hygiene products can trust the CHSA mark, recognising it as a guarantee of quality.

Today the Association runs Accreditation Schemes for Manufacturers of Soft Tissue, Plastic Sacks, Cotton Mops and Cleaning Chemicals and for Distributors. Members of the Schemes are required to take all reasonable and practical steps to ensure all products within the scope of the Schemes are of the stated quality and quantity for the intended purpose. Depending on the Scheme, members are also required to evidence relevant quality and environmental certifications.

The validity of the Schemes is underpinned by independent inspection. The Inspector visits every member, checking the labels accurately reflect the content of the box and the product. Depending on the Accreditation Scheme, product checks involve confirming the sheet count, width, duty, weight and performance of the product. He also assesses members’ quality assurance procedures. This means the Accreditation Scheme Mark on a product means that product has been audited to confirm ‘what’s on the box is what’s in the box’.

For CHSA Accredited Products, the manufacturer, whether based in the UK or overseas, must provide a copy of their most recent official ethical audit report. The report must meet the CHSA’s minimum requirement and encompass labour standards and health and safety.

Every CHSA member has signed the Association’s Code of Practice, which includes the Competition & Market’s Authority’s Green Claims Code.
