WHAT’S NEW?

ADVANCED PROTECTION FOR NATIONAL RAIL

COLLEGE A key driver in the successful delivery of the UK’s £42.6bn HS2 project, the National College for High Speed Rail, is now protected by fire panels from Advanced.

Located in Doncaster, a town historically known for its prominent role in rail engineering and maintenance, the college occupies 76,000 sq ft of teaching and workshop space, with specialist training installations, including 150 metres of external track and catenary.

It will train thousands of engineers to meet HS2’s future needs, as well as those of the wider rail sector. With 2,000 apprenticeship opportunities set to be created by HS2, and 25,000 people employed during construction, there has been, and continues to be high demand for appropriately skilled workers.

The Advanced MxPro panels were specified by the team at GBE Fire and Security, who were appointed by main contractor Briggs and Forrester to specify, install and commission the fire system at the site.

CHSA COUNCIL ELECT TWO NEW

REPRESENTATIVES The CHSA Council has elected RPC bpi recycled products and re-elected Kimberley-Clark Professional at the AGM held in the House of Commons. The result means two new representatives will joining the Council.

Caroline Stanley, UK Marketing Leader, will represent Kimberley- Clark Professional, and Lorcan Mekitarian, Sales Director, will represent RPC bpi recycled products.

Bunzl, Harrison Wipes and Jangro were also re-elected. David Cousins, Stephen Harrison and Jeremy Thorn, respectively, will continue to represent these companies.

“We’re delighted to welcome two new colleagues to the Council,” said

GBE’s Business Development Manager, Andy Westgarth, commented: “We’re thrilled to have been involved in this project. The college will create many opportunities for young people and make a major contribution to the Northern Powerhouse. With sensitive installations, including electrical catenary, a high-quality fire system is essential and, as a longstanding Advanced partner, we feel that MxPro panels are the ideal solution.”

MxPro is the fire industry’s leading multiprotocol fire system solution. It offers customers a choice of two panel ranges, four detector protocols and a completely open installer network, backed up by free training

Stephen Harrison, Chairman of the CHSA. “The Council has achieved a great deal on behalf of the CHSA. Our Accreditation Schemes sustain standards, we secured Stephen Kerr MP as our voice in Parliament, have invited industry-leading speakers to share their insights and provided valuable information on topics ranging from the GDPR to regulations governing the sale of chemicals.

“It is important we continue to evolve and deliver for our members. With this in mind Caroline and Lorcan will make excellent additions to the Council, bringing a new perspective and fresh ideas. I am delighted to welcome them on board and look forward to their contribution.”

Explaining his passion for the CHSA and its objectives, Lorcan Mekitarian said: “The CHSA’s Accreditation Schemes matter to the industry. Some of our customers are not experts in

and support. MxPro panels can be used in single loop, single panel format or easily configured into high speed, multi-loop panels in 200 node networks covering huge areas. MxPro’s legendary ease of installation and configuration and wide peripheral range make it customisable to almost any application.

Neil Parkin, Advanced Sales Manager for the North, commented: “This is the latest in a series of high-profile rail sector installations for Advanced panels. We have worked with GBE on many projects and it’s great to be working with them on such a positive project.”

the products and our membership of the Accreditation Scheme means they don’t have to be. They just need to look for the marque to be certain they are getting the quality product promised on the label.”

Caroline’s marketing expertise will be a valuable addition to the CHSA Council. “The CHSA is highly respected in our sector,” she said. “An important focus for the CHSA is the engagement with the end users and procurers of cleaning and hygiene products.”
