We need to address the way that increased use of technology is making lives more sedentary. You see all of these memes on social media about how ‘we used to play out for hours on our bikes/skipping ropes but kids today sit looking at a screen’ etc. Future generations are going to be even more at risk unless we start making changes.
Taking responsibility As employers we must take more responsibility for the health of our employees; especially those people we employ to predominantly sit at a desk. At StepJockey we work with major employer wellbeing teams and facilities managers to help them to do just this. If the incentive of having a healthier workforce is not enough, then surely the idea of increased productivity is.
After the invention of the computer and the gradual introduction of computers to offices, typical working days changed forever. An office worker in the 80s may have spent time walking to filing cabinets and sending mail correspondence out from the mailroom or even walking to the local post box.
You couldn’t send an email to someone on the next floor, so you would get up and walk up the stairs and speak to that person. Now, someone at that very same place of work will sit down at their desk and rarely move from

At StepJockey we are on a mission to lead the fight against the health implications of sedentary behaviour in workspaces.
