THE FUTURE OF HOSPITALITY HYGIENE


With outdoor hospitality venues set to re-open this month, Alasdair Sharp, UK & Ireland Sales Manager for Satino by WEPA, discusses the impact of the pandemic on cleaning and hygiene procedures, and the essential products businesses will need to maintain high standard in a post-lockdown world.


It is impossible to ignore the sizeable impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on hospitality. Yet with outdoor venues re-opening from 12th April, and a roadmap in place, hospitality bosses across England can prepare for more positive times ahead.


FMs can be begin to look forward to welcoming customers back to their premises. However, one year on from the fi rst UK lockdown, it is important not to lose sight of the impact that the past 12 months has had on the sector; and the repercussions on cleaning and hygiene procedures.


Many people quite rightly expect the industry to bounce back once hotels and hospitality venues are fi nally able to

open their doors once again – but with this return to a ‘new normal’, how can venues invite guests back responsibly, while maintaining a pleasant environment for staff and visitors alike?


Public awareness The World Health Organisation (WHO) has maintained throughout the pandemic that washing hands is one of the easiest things a person can do to prevent the spread of germs from one surface to another, with soap and water being an effective solution. This message has not gone unheard, with consumer awareness of cleanliness and hand hygiene at an all-time high.
