Tork manufacturer Essity looks at ways of equipping a restaurant washroom that combines high levels of hygiene with an attractive décor.


When eating out we generally expect the toilet décor to reflect the image of the establishment, but our expectations will vary depending on the type of restaurant in question.

For example, when visiting a fine dining venue we will hope to be impressed by the washrooms and find them every bit

as smart as the restaurant itself. In a fast food outlet we will want the washrooms to be clean, functional and well- stocked so that we can use them quickly and conveniently. In a small artisan café our expectations may be lowered, but we will still hope to find clean, hygienic facilities equipped with plentiful supplies of paper and soap.


This is because hygiene is of paramount importance in any establishment where food is served. No matter how small, large or luxurious the venue, there will always be some food items that are eaten with their hands. For example, we may tuck into burgers, chips and fried chicken in a fast food outlet; poppadums and naan bread in a curry house; prawn crackers in a Chinese restaurant; dipping bread in an artisan café and canapes and fresh rolls in an upmarket restaurant.


Clean hands are a pre-requisite when eating any of these food items. If the washroom fails to deliver on hand
