Editor’s Voice Hello and welcome to the December/January issue of Tomorrow’s Care!

In what has been an incredibly difficult year for the health and social care sector, I am pleased to begin our final issue of 2020 with talk of positive steps forward. The first week of December was one of monumental announcements for the UK, and the care sector in particular. As care homes make every effort to ensure residents can be reunited with their loved ones this Christmas, the news of a major rollout of testing kits for visitors is a huge move forward in this process. And just a few days aſter this announcement was made, another major breakthrough came as the COVID-19 Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was approved for use in the UK, with care home residents and staff taking priority. As I write this, full details of how the vaccine will be rolled out are unclear and the logistics are expected to be complex, but Tomorrow’s Care will be closely following this process with regular updates on our news website.

In this issue, we have a variety of jam-packed feature sections with guidance and support to help you keep your care facilities running like clockwork during this difficult time. It will come as no surprise that this edition’s Cleaning & Hygiene focus is bursting at the seams with expert advice and case studies from well-respected industry names, including Kärcher, Essity, Denis Rawlins and many more. We also take a look at Care Planning tools, soſtware and strategies to provide you with advice and knowledge of the latest support available to run your care service as efficiently as possible.

Concluding law firm Keebles’ final instalment of its legal column, Catherine Wilson sums up the key legal lessons that COVID-19 has taught care home professionals. We also hear an incredible story of a 75-year reunion in our ‘It’s My Life’ feature.

From everyone here at Tomorrow’s Care, we wish you all a very Merry (and safe) Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the new year!
