Therapy CPD Training by Chroma

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Chroma, a leading provider of arts therapies services, believe in supporting arts therapists in both knowledge and experience, providing CPD training to not only their own therapists but to any who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the ever-evolving issues therapists face on a daily basis, and help them to feel confident in supporting clients.

Sessions offered in 2021-2022 comprised of Adoption 101, Working with Life Story in Arts Therapies, Voice of the Client – using language in arts therapies, Adverse Childhood Events and Signs of Trauma, Attachment Strategies in School, and Gender and Identity.

Company Profile

Founded in 2013, working throughout the UK in partnership with social workers, case managers, healthcare teams and education establishments, Chroma is the UK’s leading national provider of creative arts therapies – working with people of all ages living with a neurological condition and enabling them to realise their potential through creativity.

In addition to those sessions, topics for 2023-2024 also include Mentalisation, Teens – highlighting ways to work with teenagers in creative arts therapies, Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs) - highlighting the powerful dynamics portrayed during therapy, Feeling the Feelings – learning how to support low-level eating disorders and body dysmorphia intervention for 12+ and using formalised assessments and screening tools in music, drama and art therapy.

The sessions are varied, but thorough, and have been developed to help deepen an understanding for each theme, providing ideas and perspectives that participants may have been unaware or unfamiliar with.

Delivered in either a professional or a reflective manner, the training sessions give way to the theory and the practicality of the content. For example, Adoption 101 has a professional session, followed by a reflective session. Attachment also follows this format.

Chris Smith, Partner at Stewarts Law, said: “Chroma has a reputation for innovation and are very much at the forefront of the field. Music therapy, once seen as an exception rather than the norm, is now a part of truly holistic neurorehabilitation”

These CPD sessions offer therapists time to reflect upon what they have learnt and allow them to converse with other therapists, sharing insight, knowledge, experience and expertise to help further others’ understanding of topics – sharing perspectives that may have not previously been considered by some.

Chroma’s “Outstanding” Ofsted report:

“Managers [at Chroma] have developed a remarkable culture of using research in practice, and the links that have developed in the wider sector support the managers’ drive for excellence.”
