Introduction to Social Care by WeCare Wales ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

WeCare Wales aims to attract more people to work in social care and childcare in Wales by showing the variety of roles and career progression opportunities available. Showcasing real care workers, stories and case studies that focus on challenges as well as what makes the work rewarding and worthwhile.

The website illustrates the roles available, access to learning resources, how to attend free online training, plus the search for jobs, work experience and volunteering opportunities.

Our award winning ‘Introduction to social care programme’ was developed by the team in 2022, to train participants aged 16+ to better understand some of the skills, qualities and challenges required to work in social care.

The free online three- day programme covers a plethora of subjects, enhanced by real life examples.

Completers will have access to our guaranteed interview scheme with a large selection of employers across the whole of Wales.

Our work coach can signpost completers for further support if they are not quite work ready.

To date, the team of six have trained over 1000 participants in the past two years. They have also been running programmes aimed at hard-to-reach groups; such as Ukrainians in Wales, the African Community in Swansea and The Princes Trust. These programmes have shown a high success of completers.

Over 17% have found an employment, education or volunteering opportunity in the sector.

The Introduction to Social Care team works closely with employers to evolve and shape the programme. The team who developed and deliver the programme have over 107 years social care experience. We provide an impactful, wide-ranging learner experience that can guarantee a job interview within the social care sector.
